6 Hours in Brooklyn, NY

The planets must of aligned this day when thee @brooklynpetite AKA Veronica Bonilla a fashion blogger and stylist based out in New York invited me to lunch. EEEEEEKKKKK. When I saw and I quote…. ” We can always meet up for lunch” in my DM I was low key shook.

Here’s a quick back story ‘cuz homegirl did not randomly hit me up. She made her first guest appearance along with @chelseaasoflate another dope ass curly hair Latina blogger, who one day I dream of meeting was also there (not to mention other beautiful female influencers). I can’t remember the exact event, but I knew it would of been flames to be there in the presence of powerful women hearing about their start. Y ‘all know I’m all about girl power.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend because it conflicted with my school schedule. That was a bummer, but it’s all good though, things happen for a reason. I believe another event popped up on her IG stories, so I quickly checked to see if I could make the trip out, but once again I had class. I decided to casually send her a DM not thinking about receiving a response in return or getting anything out it. Let’s be real, she probably gets a ton of messages.

Being the girl power enthusiast that I am I just wanted to give her some encouraging words, tell her how cool I thought she was, and one day I would love to go to one of her events to hear her speak etc… back to the shook part. I thought I was being punk’d or someone secretly hacked into her IG account to play with my emotions. But nope it was her. I got an address, a date to meet, and what do you know I was free for that day. Say word.

As I was typing back trying to stay calm, cool, and collected. On the inside I was doing the Carlton dance. Ya girl was so hyped! LOL

She is such a beauty and tiny, hence her name @brooklynpetite, but most importantly so down to earth and so sweet! Honestly, I am so grateful to have met her. She was just so freaking awesome. I learned a lot, I felt motivated, and encouraged to continue my journey as a fashion blogger/content creator. The best part was how nice of a person she was. She was so appreciative that ‘lil old me came to actually meet her. She was so straight up and genuine. It was so bomb.

One slight regret though, I didn’t get to take a picture with her, yes I know. I’m super wack for that, but I was so nervous. I didn’t want to be like oh by the way…. LOL

Overall my experience meeting another content creator who is in the game doing BIG things was just the icing on the cake for me. Truly an inspiration meeting this gorgeous Afro-Latina who is so driven, dope at what she does, and humble. My 6 hours in Brooklyn, NY was well worth it and an experience I will never forget.
