90s inspired Concert outfit

Hello Loves!

I am hyped to say I was able to place a check mark on my bucket list Monday. One down a trillion more to go. Forever and ever I’ve been dying to go to a Hillsong Concert! They are an awesome praise and worship band originated as part of Hillsong Church in Australia. Going strong since ’98, they are BIG in the Christian music world. Of course you don’t have to be a Christian to listen to them. Their music is so dope and inspiring, Christian or not you would dig it. Ya girl was jammin’ and praising on Monday with no shame!Hillsong3.jpegThe concert was held at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts . It was pretty awesome given that it’s an old vintage style theatre and been around since the mid 1800s. Hillsong6.jpgSo on that note of “vintage,” I came up with this “vintage inspired” 90s concert outfit. I’d say it’s Ashley Banks meets Kelly Kapowski with some Boricua flare in one big melting pot.

Boricua-  A Puerto Rican, especially one living in the United States (synonym for Puerto Rican)

I tried at first to get some inspo on trusty Pinterest, however, a lot of what I found was a little hoochie mama ish for this particular event. You know it’s Hillsong, not a reggaeton/reggae concert where you can show a little more than usual. Thinking about  all the walking we would have to do to get there I thought to myself, NAH, I’ll keep it cute and simple. So, of course I went shopping for an outfit. I ended up at my old stomping grounds of Good Will and hit the jack pot with some goodies.    Hillsong5.jpgCan we just talk about this purse right here? Can we? Yes, I found this baddie at Good Will for $3.99! I snatched that thing up so quick! I’ve been on the look out for a yellow purse. I love yellow for spring and summer it’s such a great pop of color. Hillsong9.jpgMy black floral “top” was another great find. Even more freaking great about it, it has SHOULDER PADS! Say word?! Oh yes it does….. 😛

Say word-  A question raised when presented with a shocking or unbelievable statement; when you hear something, but you don’t believe it, usually out of shock; used as a rhetorical question

Not only that it’s actually a dress I stuffed into my jeans LOL. The dress itself has 90s written all over it and it was $6!Hillsong4.jpegThese relaxed fit high waisted boyfriend jeans were also found at Good Will for super cheap as well! I bought these for $7, rolled up the bottoms, and paired them with these classic cream color high top chucks to give it more of that old school feel.  I also paired this look with a brown belt from my closet that I purchased from Marshalls not too long ago. I liked how the yellow in the “top” and purse compliments the brown.    hillsong13.jpg Hillsong8.jpgHillsong12.jpgHillsong11.jpgHillsong7.jpgMy jean jacket is more of a recent purchase from H&M $25. The jacket and earrings ties the whole look together creating my 90s inspired concert outfit look.Hillsong 10.jpgHillsong2.jpgInspired by Spring, I wanted to add another bold color to the look with this bright orange matte lipstick called Purty Persimmon/reflet orange from Wet N’ Wild. I kept my hair sleek and simple. Pulling it back in a bun with a middle part, completing the 90s style look with these great bamboo earrings.

My goal was to be comfortable yet stylish at an affordable price! I can’t say enough how great it is to find some awesome pieces when thrifting for super cheap!
